About me
Anna Gyagbile Abbey is an environmental microbiology researcher with a background in Civil Engineering and Soil Science. Her MASc research at the University of British Columbia Okanagan examined bacterial and cyanobacterial community dynamics and environmental drivers in urban stormwater ponds in Kelowna, British Columbia. Using field sampling, water quality monitoring, 16S rRNA sequencing, bioinformatics, and environmental data analysis, her work explores how microbial communities respond to changing environmental conditions in stormwater systems. She is interested in microbial ecology, cyanobacterial bloom monitoring, water quality protection, and applied research that supports sustainable water management.
